New Billing Service for Steele Memorial Medical Center

As part of Steele Memorial Medical Center’s ongoing initiative to improve quality in its
workflows across all departments as well as patient safety protocols through its recent
accreditation from DNV GL, SMMC has partnered with a new service provider to improve the
support and communication in its billing process.
Addressing feedback from the community, SMMC has chosen to work with a billing service
provider which has incorporated the training and patient communications approach that align
with SMMC’s own mission, vision, and values.
Our mission is to provide compassionate care not only in our clinical settings, but also in the way
we handle financial services and discussions with patients,” said SMMC’s CFO, Lionel
Montoya. And, it is of the utmost importance that our partners who deliver these services share
and demonstrate the same S-P-I-R-I-T values of Service, Pride, Integrity, Respect, Involvement
in the Community and Teamwork that we instill in all the members of our organization.”
Some of the changes patients will see include seamless information sharing between SMMC and
its billing service, as well as more detailed statements and a more collaborative approach to
financial discussions with patients.
Montoya added, “SMMC wants to deliver the highest level of care to our community and that
includes every step in a patient’s journey.”
