Steele Memorial Medical Center is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care close to home. Our 2026–2027 Strategic Plan is a roadmap for how we will strengthen services, support our workforce, and remain a trusted healthcare partner for Lemhi County, Custer County, and the surrounding rural region.

This plan centers on one guiding focus: the patient.

We are sharing our Strategic Plan to be transparent about our goals and to hold ourselves accountable to the community we serve. We want patients and families to understand how we are strengthening care close to home—today and for the future.

The graphics below summarize our Mission, Vision, and Values, and outline five organizational priorities—each with goals that guide leadership focus, department planning, and service improvements.

Our priorities are organized into five pillars:

  • Quality & Service: Deliver exceptional patient experiences with compassion, efficiency, and personalized care.

  • Community: Build trust by expanding access, deepening partnerships, and promoting service offerings.

  • People: Maximize human potential through leadership, strategic recruitment, training, and empowerment.

  • Finance: Maintain sustainability by optimizing revenue, managing costs, and investing wisely for excellence in care delivery.

  • Growth: Drive growth through strategic initiatives, expanded services, and strong partnerships.

We will track progress through measurable actions such as:

  • Patient experience and safety improvement efforts

  • Access to services and community partnership development

  • Workforce recruitment, retention, and training initiatives

  • Responsible financial stewardship that supports patient care

  • Service growth initiatives aligned with community needs

This Strategic Plan supports our commitment to rural healthcare—ensuring patients can access safe, dependable, and high-quality services as close to home as possible. We will review progress regularly and continue listening to community needs as we move forward.
