“The Steele Memorial Foundation is organized for charitable and educational purposes and to function as a Goodwill Ambassador for Steele Memorial Medical Center. The Foundation, by working with and through Steele Memorial Medical Center, seeks to improve medical care and medical services, thereby benefiting the communities, residents, and visitors of Lemhi and Custer Counties.”

Building a Legacy: The History of Generosity and Impact
The 2023 Campaign raised a generous $60,805.91 for the purchase of 2 Skytron Hercules Operating Room Tables. Combining impressive 1,200 pound lift capacity with exclusive table top rotation, the Hercules table exceeds all standards in general purpose surgical tables. Skytron offers 210° table top rotation – making imaging and patient positioning easy and safe. From pediatric to bariatric, the Hercules table gives any operating room the versatility to handle more procedures and specialties. The Skytron table excels in imaging efficiency, surgical positioning flexibility, and improved patient safety in all types of surgeries including general, orthopedics, ENT, and urology.
The 2022 Campaign raised a generous $39,000 for the purchase of 5 Emergency Room Stretchers. One stretcher is equipped with OB/GYN functionality and 4 stretchers are engineered to reduce staff physical strain on startup exertion by 50% and turning exertion by 60% to provide safer and more efficient patient transport. These stretchers bring all of the modern-day comfort available to patients.
The 2019 Campaign raised a generous amount towards the purchase of an automated hematology analyzer. The analyzer is one of the most utilized instruments in the lab, examining over 500 complete blood counts (CBC) monthly. The instrument aids in the detection and evaluation of numerous diseases including infections, leukemia’s, lymphomas, and anemia. It also aids in determining the need for a blood transfusion or if additional testing needs to be ordered.
The 2018 Campaign raised a generous $61,500 towards the purchase of a patient cardiac monitoring system in the Emergency Room. The system monitors heart rhythm and vital signs with wireless capability, allowing patients flexible, comprehensive, real time surveillance across the hospital system. Nurses and physicians can easily view and monitor patient vitals from a centralized location allowing for rapid response time.
The 2017 Campaign raised a generous $37,400.74 towards the purchase of two fetal heart monitors and two operating room lights. The Steris® LED Surgical Lighting System provides crisp, white light helping provide the best possible patient outcomes. The GE Fetal Heart Monitor allows monitoring the needs for both mother and fetus, monitoring blood pressure, intrauterine pressure, fetal ECG, maternal ECG, and maternal pulse oximetery.
The 2016 Campaign raised a generous $38,357.50 towards the purchase of a multi-configured (MC) audiometric test booth and a clinical two-channel audiometer. The audiology sound booth and audiometer will enable the audiologists to perform diagnostic hearing evaluations for children and adults, as well as hearing screenings and tinnitus (ringing in the ears) evaluations. The campaign exceeded its goal and was able to purchase Blu Light Therapy. Blu Light Therapy is for treatment of minimal to moderately thick actinic keratosis of the face or scalp and can also be used as an acne treatment.
The 2015 Campaign raised a generous $43,000 towards the purchase of three GE Healthcare Panda Infant Warmers for Labor & Delivery. These high tech warmers contain many features for infants and the care giver. Helping to keep the healthy baby healthy.
The 2014 Campaign allowed Steele Memorial Foundation to donate $72,000 for the purchase of eight Stryker Smart Beds. The technologically advanced Smart Beds offer interconnectivity with the patient communication system. These state-of-art beds improve patient safety through a multi-level alarm system that alerts nurses and staff with different levels of patient movement. The Smart Beds are designed to deliver maximum comfort and will lead to a better overall patient experience.
The 2013 Campaign exceeded its goal for the purchase of a comprehensive patient communication system by raising $45,000. This vital system is utilized throughout the hospital including patient rooms, the emergency department and ancillary departments. This new system helps improve communication between doctors, nurses and patients.
The 2012 Campaign brought in $100,000 which allowed for the for the construction of a new community Emergency Medical Services (EMS) facility.
The 2011 Campaign, through your generosity brought in $76,841.52. This money benefited the community and Steele Memorial Medical Center by allowing the purchase of a state-of-the-art Digital Mammography System.
The 2010 Campaign achieved the unprecedented by raising $63,481.91 for the purchase of Portable Ultrasound Machine.
The 2009 Campaign raised $41,958.84 for the purchase of valuable equipment for the Rehabilitation Department. This equipment includes: a Biodex Balance System, Myo Trac Infiniti sEMG, Upright Stationary Bicycle, Elliptical Trainer, Treadmill, an Upper Body Ergometer, Wall Gym, Computer on Wheels and much more.
This Year’s Campaign: Advancing Care, Strengthening Community
Building upon a tradition of meeting our community health needs, we invite you to participate in the 2024-2025 Annual Giving Campaign. This year’s campaign is focused on securing funding for three critical pieces of equipment:
Urology Transducer - This device is essential for creating images that aid in diagnosing various conditions such as organ damage, bladder stones, kidney blockages, and tumors.
Retina Scanner - This scanner captures high-resolution images of the retina and eye, allowing specialists to diagnose conditions and provide diabetic eye exams.
Dexa Scanner - This scanner measures bone density and strength, which is crucial in diagnosing or assessing the risk of bone-related health issues, such as osteoporosis, and determining the likelihood of fractures.
The Annual Giving Campaign is your personal opportunity to enhance SMMC’s mission to deliver compassionate healthcare to our residents and visitors. Your gift will have a direct positive impact upon healthcare in our community. Cumulative donations of $500 or more will be acknowledged on the Steele Memorial Foundation’s Donor Wall located at Steele Memorial Medical Center.
