Ways to Give

There are many ways to ensure compassionate healthcare is available for future generations in the Salmon area. You may choose to make a contribution in many ways depending on which suits you best. Here are a few options:

Cash – Whether through cash, check, credit card or debit card, cash donations are the most common type of donation and provide the most immediate tax benefits. If you itemize, your outright gifts of cash are fully deductible for federal income tax purposes up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income. If your total gifts should exceed this limitation, the excess may be carried forward for tax purposes for up to five additional years.

  • Online donations, available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, are a convenient and easy way to invest in the future of health care in your own community. To make a donation now, visit us at www.steelemeorialfoundation.org and Donate Now.

Appreciated Property – Gifts of stocks, bonds, mutual funds and real property qualify for a charitable income tax deduction, avoid capital gains taxes and reduce potential estate taxes.

Bequests by Will – You can make a charitable gift by designating a percentage or a specific dollar amount of your estate. This type of gift qualifies for the charitable estate tax deduction. Speak with your financial advisor about a bequest.

Beneficiary Designations – Many financial accounts, CDs, mutual funds, annuities, life insurance policies and retirement accounts allow you to make a charitable gift using beneficiary designations. Consider long-term tax savings, the federal estate tax can still take approximately 50 percent of one's estate at the time of death. That's a higher tax bite than the income tax! Speak with your financial advisor about beneficiary designations.

Gifts that Provide Income – You can make a gift now and get immediate tax benefits while ensuring that you or a loved one receives income payments for life and make a future charitable gift. Ask your tax or investment advisor for more information.
