Steele Memorial Medical Center Hosts Heart Health Walk, Lunch, and Educational Presentation for the Community
Salmon, Idaho — On Friday, February 27, Steele Memorial Medical Center welcomed community members to a Heart Health Walk, Lunch, and Educational Presentation, bringing people together to focus on cardiovascular wellness, prevention, and education.
The event began at 11:45 a.m. with a walk through downtown Salmon, where community members enjoyed beautiful weather and the opportunity to get moving together in support of heart health. Approximately 60 community members participated, demonstrating strong local interest in learning more about prevention and taking proactive steps to improve their heart health.
Following the walk, community members gathered back at the Steele Memorial Medical Center conference room for lunch prepared by the hospital’s Dietary Department. The meal featured chicken breast with pineapple salsa, rice, and homemade macaroons, offering a delicious and thoughtful addition to the day’s activities while highlighting the role nutritious food plays in supporting cardiovascular health.
The educational portion of the event was led by Dr. Anthony J. Navone, MD, FACC, cardiologist at Steele Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Navone provided an engaging presentation on heart disease, cardiovascular risk factors, and prevention, helping community members better understand conditions such as coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis, as well as the importance of managing blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, physical activity, diet, stress, and other everyday factors that can significantly impact heart health.
Events like this reflect Steele Memorial Medical Center’s ongoing commitment to serving the community in meaningful ways beyond the walls of the hospital. By offering opportunities for education, prevention, and connection, Steele Memorial Medical Center strives to support the health and well-being of community members throughout Lemhi County and the surrounding rural region.
Steele Memorial Medical Center extends its gratitude to everyone who participated and helped make the event such a success and looks forward to continuing to offer programs that support healthier lives throughout the community.
